How many characters can a Threads post contain?

Does an emoji count as one character?
Yes. Threads treats each emoji as a single character, including multi-codepoint emoji. This counter uses grapheme clusters, so 👨👩👧👦 counts as one — matching the app.
Do URLs count toward the limit?
Yes. Threads does not shorten or exempt links, so every character of a URL counts like normal text.
Can I count text for replies and bios too?
